ABB: ADAPTIVE MOTION TECHNOLOGY AND OFF LINE PROGRAMMING FOR SURFACING FINISHING SOLUTIONS
ABB Robotics can offer today finishing solutions for sand foundry moulds and all the key technologies in the area of surface treatment for deburring and surface finishing for ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Force sensors can increase the ease-of use for robots in applications requiring real-time adaptive motion control. Tactile sensing can automate complex tasks making the robots intelligent and able to “feel” its own surroundings. The robot can apply a constant force on a surface, even if the exact position is not known. Force control sensors allow the robot to adapt position, orientation and speed along the working path.
This functionality can be used in many applications, including assembly, product testing and machining. The technology includes powerful functionality that allows the robot to maintain a constant force between itself and the objects it is working with, allowing superior final quality levels of the processes. The technology also can be used to adapt the robot’s speed upon input from the force sensor. This allows it to follow edges and other contours efficiently, such as in deburring of complex shapes.
Offline programming software for machining applications can easily program the robot similar to a CNC machine. It contains functions for transforming CNC code to RAPID robot code, generating robot path based on CAD model, adjusting and optimizing path & target and managing the Force sensor instruction. All the function are integrated and supported in a Virtual Controller simulation environment and it is the ideal tool for programming of applications such as machining, deburring, grinding, polishing and deflashing.
Moreover predictive maintenance software can monitor both sensor and robot parameter to increase performance and availability of the system. It is cloud-based service suite thought for fulfilling the needs of different user profiles within maintenance and production departments that allow them to remotely monitor, troubleshoot and optimize robot systems.
