ENGITEC TECHNOLOGIES: NEW PLANT FOR SERVICE METAL
The production of semi-finished products of high quality requires specific know-how and highly automated modern equipment that allow the reproducibility of the quality obtained. In the context of successful companies, the decision-making process that leads to the purchase of new machinery and systems almost never disregards this simple consideration that leads to preferring machinery designed and built by primary OEMs rather than low-cost OEMs.
Service Metal Company of Brescia does not need any presentation being one of the most reputable European leaders in the production of brass ingots and bronze ingots and bars. The production facility is located in the historic complex of Mazzano (Brescia- Italy) which is spread over an area of about 45,000 square meters, out of which 12,000 are occupied by covered production facilities. In continuous growth, the company totaled an annual production of about 30,000 tons in 2021.
During the month of August 2022, Service Metal awarded Engitec – GMS Product Line – the supply of a new horizontal continuous casting plant for the production of semi-finished products (bars, tubes and billets) in copper alloys.
The complete line, entirely designed and built by Engitec, includes the following main ma
chines:
– Melting furnace
– Holding and casting furnace
– Equipment for coolers
– Traction machine
– Profile sawing machine
– Billet unloading bench
A very modern automation and control system based on the winCC platform controls and manages the various production recipes and the operator can check the process parameters in real time.
This new order comes 17 years after the supply of a similar horizontal continuous casting line completed by the same players in 2005 and after several revamping contracts of the current continuous casting lines between 2010 and 2019.
